Passion. Experience. Commitment.

Our journey began back in the UK…

As a child I grew up fascinated by all living things spending hours pond dipping searching for various creatures. I collected all the snails I could find and set them loose in my grandparent’s garden much to their disgust!

Being particularly interested in tortoises as a teenager I discovered The British Chelonia Group which set the seed for my full-time passion-tortoises. Eagerly attending monthly meetings, I absorbed all I could from those inspirational members and their tortoises. We had pre- and post-hibernation wellness checks where members brought in their tortoises to be health checked. We measured, weighed, and recorded details. Experienced keepers gave informative talks about their expertise, experiences with their conservation projects, research, and travel.

In the mid 1990’s I met my husband Richard, and we were ecstatic to have the opportunity to adopt our first tortoise Henry a Western Hermann’s adult. We emigrated to Canada in 1999 along with our first daughter, Henry the tortoise, and Charlie our rescue dog.

Fast forwarding to today we are working with ten species of Chelonia plus a few other reptiles.

We are committed to caring for and raising Captive Bred tortoises here in Manitoba, Canada to share our passion and experience with others.

We continue to work hard to conserve these amazing animals.
